Matt's first tooth, 323/365

Matt finally lost his first tooth today.  It was loose, so he pulled it out himself.  And, the last picture shows what has kept me so busy this week.  Those are the training materials we covered over the past five days.

Polaroid, 321/365

I realized yesterday that my numbering has been wrong since August.  So, its corrected now, and I'm approaching that big "365" number rapidly.
I've had a very busy week with training and vendor meetings in the evenings.  There hasn't been much time to go out and find good subject matter.  Therefore, I'll show you the latest addition to my collection.  This is the Polaroid Land Camera Automatic 100.  It was the first Polaroid pack film camera.  But, more significantly, it happened to be the first mass-produced camera with an electronic shutter.  The previous owner had put a piece of tape on the battery in the camera, which read a date in 1976.  Of course, it's dead.  But, amazingly there is no corrosion in the battery compartment.  I still need to do a standard battery conversion on this one to make it usable, but it'll be a good one.

Rachael's concert, 320/365

Rachael sang and played her flute at the middle school concert tonight.  She was also recognized for making Honor Band and going on to All-Iowa.

Movie theater, 299/365

The bad thing about winter is that I don't get to see much sunlight for photography.  But, the good part is, lots of opportunities for long exposure and low light photography!  :-)

Cake walk, 298/365

Sacred Heart Church held it's fall festival today.  Claire won this cake at the cake walk.

Honor band, 297/365

Rachael was first chair flute at the NCIBA Middle School Honor Band contest yesterday.  Here she is playing during the concert, and then with her director, Mrs. Fritz, afterwards.

The day before Veterans Day, 295/365

Veterans Day is not until tomorrow, but they had the flags up at the cemetery by Jewell already this afternoon.  I was a little surprised to see that, as they are not lit up overnight.  I didn't think that was acceptable, but maybe there is some special protocol that I don't know about in this case...

First Snow, 294/365

Yesterday marked our first snow in Iowa, although it missed us up in Jewell.  We're still waiting for our first snow.  But, here are a couple shots out in the snow in Des Moines.

Kim, 293/265

Ghost, 292/365

I know, something like this would have been more appropriate on Halloween.  But, I was showing Rachael what you could do with a strobe light tonight.  It was just a small one from in a jack-o-lantern, so it wasn't bright enough to really light me up.  But, you get the idea.

Meals from the Heartland, 290/365

Rachael, Noelle, and I helped package meals at Sacred Heart in Boone, for Meals from the Heartland.  Our team packaged 10 boxes of 36 meals.  Each meal package feeds a family of 6.  So, we made a pretty good contribution in a little over an hour.  Whenever a team got a box full, they yelled for everyone to hear.  Our team decided to start a cheer instead.  What we thought of was, "We filled a box, that really rocks!"  Not to be outdone, the team beside us started chanting, "We have the speed, to help those in need!"

Minneapolis, 289/365

Kim and the kids did not have school today, so I took the day off as well.  We went up to Minneapolis, to Sea Life, shopping, and lunch at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company.

Books, 288/365

Here is a view down the rows of books at the library.  Now, I know what you are thinking.  When is Bill going to quit taking pictures with crappy camera phones?!?  This one was with my Blackberry, which is even worse than my cell phone.  Well, the answer is, tomorrow. The little Olympus is supposed to be back from the repair shop tomorrow, after being sent in for a broken LCD screen.  It's amazing how you get used to a camera, and miss it when it's gone.

Honda, 287/365

There was snow in southwest Iowa yesterday, so the motorcycle parking area at work is pretty bare.  But, an occasional die-hard biker will still brave the cold.

Christmas time, 286/365

Halloween is over, so it must be time for Christmas; at least according to the retail industry.  Never mind Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, or any other holidays that disappear in the Christmas season.  Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Christmas fan.  Just not quite this early on the calendar.  This tree is up in the Kaleidoscope area of the skywalk (taken with a really bad cell phone camera.)
